Learning, working and volunteering
Here in Preston there is plenty of support to help you on your journey.
There are lots of different routes that people can take to upskill, volunteer and gain employment. This is personal to each individual and depends on many factors including aspirations, personal commitments, care needs, financial situations and skill sets.
In order to support socially isolated and vulnerable people at this time Lancashire Volunteer Partnership (LVP) is providing a telephone befriending service. If you wish to volunteer to help with this you can join here https://lancsvp.org.uk/opportunities/ you will need access to the internet and ideally Skype too.
Should any people be identified by befriending volunteers as needing support such as food, medication, deliveries etc or maybe they are looking to get involved in an online keep fit class, craft making or music group for example, they will be referred to an Our Lancashire staff member who will try and put them in touch with someone offering those services, either through the neighbourhood hubs or through groups known about.
ANYONE offering a service to the community at this time please register with Our Lancashire and create a group making it a central and easy place for all to see what is going on in their areas.
Joining is simple. Visit www.ourlancashire.org.uk and click “Join Our Lancashire”
